Christoph Schlingensief, German opera, theatre, radio director, announcer in talk shows, performer and, above all, what he has always emphasized, a film director. Total artist, ruthless provocateur who in a polemical way unruly explored issues of politics and exclusions stigmatising people belonging to the margins of society. But that's just the way he realised his films by combining different methods, forms and film species relating to aesthetics trash cinema, science fiction, porn or horror, provoking audiences to reflect on the issues raised by him.
So far, films by Schlingensief have not been screened in Poland so for Polish viewers this will be the first opportunity to measure against the work of artist, ranging from the "German Trilogy" by which he began to be recognized. Its first part of the "100 years of Adolf Hitler" is about last moments of the chief of the Third Reich in the interpretation of Schlingensief. Second, the most iconic part is "German Chainsaw Massacre" which tells the story of the massacre of GDR family while travelling through the western part of Germany after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The cycle closes "Terror 2000" with a Polish theme. In the trilogy are discussed very difficult not only for the Germans topics, such as the settlement with the history of the Third Reich, the problem of the reunification of Germany, the popularity of neo-Nazi organizations and issues related to people seeking political asylum. The whole is filtered with trash aesthetics, chaos, hysteria and absurdity with perverse humour.
The screenings will be accompanied by a meeting with a long-term collaborator of Christoph Schlingensief , Jorg van der Horst.
