Works of two artists, divided by nations, but combined by searching for evidence of value in art, will be presented in Gdańsk City Gallery No. 1 at the beginning of 2012.The exhibition titled “Paradise Lost” touches the issue of searching for scraps of compromised religion, a giant with fragile legs.

First of the artists is in a situation of hegemony of the church, its political dominance. He functions in the grim fortress of Catholicism, the power of clergy and it is hard for him to speak openly without being exposed simultaneously to insulting religious feelings. Tomasz Kupcewicz, because we are talking here about him, looks for value blighted by the form. To the form he devoted his attention, willy-nilly showing its contents.

Thomas Behling looks for value in something that is metaphysical. He does not want to reveal spirituality in a bad light. On the contrary, it constitutes the chief part of his life. Behling exposes naive faith, accepts religious content and spirituality only in metaphysical terms. Much space is devoted to the belief in miracles and their rationalization on the other hand.
